The generation of solids/sludge is a result of the naturally occurring processes of treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater. Odors caused by the formation of biogas (a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide) are a common occurrence at wastewater treatment facilities, bio solids processing facilities, and bio solids recycling locations. The use of the WOW Air family of products, including WOW Air™, WOW Air B™, WOW Air B28™ and WOW Air S™, will benefit the management and control of odors caused by the formation of the biogas and the management processes associated with the generation of solids/sludge.

The use of the appropriate WOW Air product will prevent the sulfur within the bacteria that is crucial to successful biological processes from forming and releasing the byproducts H₂S and mercaptan gases, and replacing these gases with oxygen, thereby freeing up the bacteria to more efficiently break down waste as naturally intended. The inactivation of the sulfur will also cause a reduction in the generation of solids/sludge. This reduction has generated less solids from the waste treatment process and has increased the decant water return flows that are usually reintroduced to the headworks of a wastewater treatment process. Once the sulfur molecule is neutralized by the WOW Air products, it cannot reform and generate H₂S or mercaptan gases during the completion of the treatment processes.
